Hi! Pippin here, safe and sound at home.
Everything was fine on the Isle of Wight, except the weather and the grass. It was very wet, when Mummy stayed home and read books and stuff, and the next day she played trains, when it was not too bad, weatherwise. I think we went out on the grass that day. It was nice to be outside, but the grass wasn’t nice. The next day Mummy changed her mind about where to go, because she didn’t want to drive so far, but she went for a walk by the sea and saw a reptile rescue place, mainly for turtles. Apparently guinea pigs are not the only pets people lose interest in.

And the next day we came home.
I was glad of that because I’d begun to feel a bit sore in my belly. It wasn’t the grass, that was all happening fine, but it was hurting to wee. Mummy was worried about me, although it hadn’t stopped me spending most of my holiday standing up and watching Ronnie and Reggie. Then Friday night I felt really poorly, and Mummy tried cuddling me. That’s when she saw I had wee’d blood. She looked at my bottom very closely, gave me some meds, and said she’d phone the vet in the morning. She did, but by then I was feeling better. What was feeling sore suddenly stopped. I think it came out. Anyway, I’m feeling much better now, and eating lots, especially Mummy’s yummy grass!

And it stopped being cold, and started being very hot! But we have nice temperatures in our room, all the time. Mummy puts the awning out for shade first thing in the morning, and waits till it’s cooler before we go out on the grass, in the shade.
I prefer being home. Mummy thinks the Sussex cottage might have been better, but we never tried the grass there. The ferry was okay on the way back, because Mummy found the lift. I don’t really need to go on holiday though.
Do you go on holiday? Where?
love

That was an up and down holiday… I am glad you’re better now ! What a good job mummy had some medicine. Do you think byou had a stone in your bladder, do guinea pigs get stones?
It’s nice to go on Holiday but it’s much nicer to come home 😀😀😀

yes, it was a little stone. I usually have potassium citrate to help prevent them, but Mummy forgot to pack it. I think it must have been partly there already though. Mummy apologised to me and has been giving it to me twice a day since.
thank you, Auntie Willow. Mummy read your book on holiday.

To me a Holiday or Vacation can just be a night away from home. It doesn’t have to be far and it can be rejuvenating.

I’m glad you’re feeling better, Pippin!
I’m sorry the weather didn’t cooperate for Mummy. The train looks like fun. Did Mummy take a ride?

Sounds like a bladder stone, Pippin, which your Mum confirmed. Once you pass it, all is well, but your diet on vacation might have contributed. I also like to come home and had a bladder stone myself the last time I was on vacation! It hurt horribly.
I’m glad your home and found some things to enjoy while away!

Glad you’re feeling better. Sorry, the vacation wasn’t the most exciting adventure ever. I like to trek out to the forest, alone, with basically nothing. This was easier on your Uncle J in younger days. Now people scoff and worry, insist I pack stuff “for emergencies.” Takes some of the fun out! (Takes the danger out, the spouse argues.)
