Fresh Grass!

Hi! Pippin here as usual. And I have great news!

We have fresh grass!

Mummy was right about those black patches. She got rid of the dead stuff and new grass has grown already. That’s only a week!

It’s not very long, but that doesn’t matter to us. We get our heads down and nibble as much as we can find. It’s been warm enough to go out most days, including the weekend. Mummy had to go over it before she put us out yesterday, to pick any leaves that had grown that are bad for us. The main culprit is buttercup. She said she got most of it out before the heat came, but now it’s growing from little bits left behind.

I wouldn’t eat buttercup if it was in my run, but we can’t be sure that Ronnie and Reggie know their bad plants, so we have to be careful. They eat most things, although they don’t like anything new (which surely means they wouldn’t eat buttercup?). They left their nice cauliflower leaves that Mummy gave them for breakfast this week. I ate mine. But I only ate half my tomato, and they beg for theirs.

I’m sure I used to love tomato. We only get small ones, but I can only eat about half of it. In fact I don’t eat a lot of my breakfast these days. I prefer hay or pellets. Mummy got the yummy blackcurrant ones because she thought she was going to run out of the normal ones, but they arrived last night. Mummy is making sure we have enough food in case there’s a shortage this winter. Apparently there wasn’t a second cut of hay because of the weather. Maybe we’ll have to go out and eat grass this winter. I’m not sure I’d like that. It might be cold out. And as you know, I’m losing my hair. Ah well. Why worry about it. It’ll probably work out okay.

I hope you aren’t suffering from food rationing yet. Stock up while you can, that’s my advice.

Till next week

love
