Nearly finished mourning

Hello, Ludo here.

We’ve nearly finished mourning. It’s six weeks since Victor died, which went slowly at first and now it’s gone fast. We come out of mourning next Sunday.

Pippin and I sometimes talk to each other, and sometimes we sit alongside each other. I think it’s just by accident: our hay racks are on the middle row of panels, so if we want to eat from them we are close, and then I sometimes lie down on one side and he does on the other. If he puts his nose through the bars to annoy me he may still get a bop on his nose.

I’m feeling better on this new medicine, although it’s not very nice. But it’s not horrible, either, so I suppose it’s okay. It’s called Frusol, and it’s supposed to ‘support my heart’. The vet said it was misfiring, missing a beat every now and then. Apparently sometimes when that happens to humans they have a pacemaker fitted. I can’t tell if it’s misfiring or not, but as I’m feeling less tired I expect it’s working better. I’m going to see Dr Rebekah this afternoon so she can check on my progress.

Mummy has been getting tired, but she rests often. She’s clearing the kitchen out for something happening next week. She’s just put lots of boxes and a bag on the doorstep for it to be collected tomorrow. And there’s a bag of things for Auntie Anne, and another bag we’re taking to the vet nurses because they like making cakes. And another bag of plastic for recycling. Isn’t it good that our vet recycles plastic bags (we get through lots of them) and also the packs and bottles that pills and meds come in.

We’ve been out on the grass several times this week, just for about an hour each. I prefer it when Mummy cuts us some grass and brings it in, though. I don’t have to bite it off then.

Till next time

love

Ludo. (him)

PS. Yes, Mummy’s new car. It’s the same as the old one but smoother and dark grey instead of blue. I like it. It’s very comfy. You hardly get a bump at the potholes. I think Mummy likes it, too.

  1. Hi Ludo good to hear you are improving and feeling better. Also getting on with Pippin must make life easier.

Glad to hear you and Mummy like the new car… What does Pippin think? 💜💜

    1. Ludo here. We have a formal mourning period of seven weeks. Seven is a magic number for guinea pigs. We count in sevens. George did a post on it and I think it’s in one of the sections in the menu bar.

But I think I counted it wrong. Mummy thinks we finish on the Sunday before Easter and that’s for another week yet. I’ll confirm it on Monday.
