Hello, I’m Pippin. I’m answering someone’s question ‘what makes guinea pigs jump in the air?’ That’s called popcorning.

What makes us Popcorn

Anything really. We do it for fun. It’s for the joy of leaping the air and shaking or turning around and landing facing the other way.

Sometimes we run around really fast then popcorn to switch direction.

It’s like rabbits binkying, or horses bucking. I mean, sometimes horses do that to get rid of their rider, but you can see them running round in fields and bucking for fun.

I asked Mummy if we had a picture of any of us popcorning. she says she doesn’t, because any time we do it and she gets her camera out, we stop.

I think if you see a guinea pig popcorn, you can be sure it’s well, and enjoying life.

Names

I used to be called Popcorn, because when I was younger I used to popcorn a lot. I only popcorn sometimes now, as I’m all grown up. And I’m called Pippin after one of the nice pirates in Mummy’s books. He grew up to be a flying ace, helping George. I’m proud of that.

  2. Great job, Pippin. And I love the term popcorning. When I do it – me being Garfield – my two legged calls it having a case of the zoomies or even better, gapping. I do it from time to time to let out some energy!

  3. Popcorning is the cutest thing! I’m glad you are happy! My dog gets zoomies, which he did earlier to day. It’s fun to see happy animals, and nice to know we pet parents can help them be happy.
