My bed’s back!

When Mummy brought me up here to the run, I left my lovely blue bed behind.  I missed it.  She said Bertie & Biggles needed it to feel safe and secure without me.

Then Bertie came up here and we divided the run, and Biggles kept my bed.  A week later it was Bertie’s.  I was a bit put out, since it was right next to our run, and there was Bertie, not even sleeping in it.

But this week Mummy gave it back to me and laughed when I got straight in it and went to sleep.  She’s like that.  I think it was kind laughter, not making fun of me.  I think she was pleased I was happy again.  Bertie got the big blue snugglesack, which Midge and I weren’t really attached to.  I’ve got my bed and Midge has his blue tunnel and we share them anyway, so we’re fine.

Apart from that, nothing much has happened except a thunder and lightning storm on Thursday when Mummy was out.  Bertie hid in the corner near us and we told him it wasn’t as bad as fireworks, which it isn’t.  We’re getting fireworks every Saturday night now, and some Fridays, and Mummy says it isn’t nice, but we just have to put up with it, because it’s people celebrating getting married at the hotel.  I think they should celebrate quietly, personally.

Oh, and we’ve been outside most evenings which is nice.  Mummy puts us in the garden when she comes in after her busy days out.  If she doesn’t fall asleep first, watching people hit a ball back and forward over a net thing on the tv.  Funny Mummy ❤

I’ve got my bed back!

Kevin here!  Percy wanted to write about the funny smells Mummy’s been making, which I thought wasn’t very kind of him, and I wanted to write about my bed.  And I’m the webmaster, so I won.

Mummy gave me my bed back last week, after she took most of my other cagewear to be washed, and put my purple one back saying “here you are Kevin – you can keep warm in this old thing till the others are dry.”

THIS OLD THING??????

This is my lovely purple (aubergine is it’s official colour) snugglesac which Colman and I had when we first came to live with Mummy.  It was like an old friend back in my life – in fact it sort of reminded me of Colman.  I think Mummy started to realise when she took this picture of me – I’d gone straight into it as soon as she put it down, and then she started giving me strange looks until she took the photo.

It was lovely and dreamy in there.  Oh, and that’s a beetroot stain on my leg.  So there I was dozing away, and Mummy looked through her old photos to see if I really had had it before, and she found it had been mine all the way from 2012, when Colman and I moved in, to 2014, when we got the snowman cagewear.  I think Hector had it after that, but Mummy said, actually Humphrey and Hector were the first people to have the purple and grey cagewear, because she got it for the grey cage they lived in when they first arrived.

Well, that makes sense, because Col and I had the grey cage when we arrived. And we had that cagewear all the way through to 2014.  I think we had the grey cage because Hec and Humph had moved into the cage that used to be Hugo and Victor’s when Victor moved in with Fred.  Then Humphrey and Hector fell out with each other, and Mummy moved Victor (who by now was living with the babies that were Dylan and Dougall) in with Humphrey, and Hector into the grey cage on his own and we came upstairs to the run (which is lovely).  It’s all very complicated and I don’t know how Mummy manages to keep tabs on it all.  Now Midge and I have the upstairs run, Oscar has Hugo & Victor’s cage, and Percy has Fred & George’s cage.  But Percy lived in the grey cage when he first arrived as Dylan and Dougall were still in Fred & George’s cage.

But the other thing Mummy found when she found those photos were lots of short moving pictures of Colman and me running around on the kitchen floor.  And then she found a lot more, including of Fred & George, and Dylan & Dougall and everyone.  If you’d like to see those, they’re on our YouTube channel!

Anyway, the purple snugglesac is mine again now.  She said the purple and grey one is for emergency only, and the purple and grey tunnel had to be thrown away.  But I’m keeping my favourite one, probably forever 🙂

Lots of things happened!

Hi, Percy here.  Sorry I didn’t talk to you last week.  Maybe I slept through it.

This week’s been very busy (apart from when Mummy’s been out all day, when I sleep a lot).

Firstly, we’ve had some very interesting food that we don’t usually have.  There were long thin crispy things called bean sprouts mixed in with cut up peppers and carrots and cabbage.  Mummy said it was a packet of stir-fry vegetables from the shop that was going cheap.  It didn’t make any noises that I could hear, though.  I’m not keen on peppers, although I ate quite a few of the red ones.  I liked the sprouty things and the cabbage a lot, and of course I love carrot.  Mummy doesn’t let me have much carrot as she says it makes me fat.  Anyway, we also had half a piece of baby corn, which was delicious.  That’s only for treats, too.  And we had some fennel bits, which we do often get as a treat because Mummy loves it too, and we get the bits she trims off when she makes her dinners with it.

Then Oscar got a new bed!  It’s red and bouncy and he really likes it.  I told Midge about it when we had floor time on Friday and he sniffed and looked cross.  When I asked why, he said “I didn’t like it.”  It turned out it was his Christmas present, but he didn’t like it so Mummy gave him back his tent which made him happy again.  Now he knows Oscar’s delighted with the red bed I think he’s feeling jealous.  Mummy can’t win with those two.

The big news is that Kevin broke his tooth again.  It was only half broken, but Mummy spotted that it was also wider apart from the other one than it should have been.  Apparently Fred did that once, and she was really worried and took him to the vet, who gave him an xray to see what was going on, and he went to sleep forever.  Then when Mummy heard that he just had a bruise between his teeth, which caused a swelling, she was even more upset.  So when she saw Kevin’s, she knew he had a bruise as well as a break, and just waited for the swelling to go down, which it did the very next day.  And now the tooth has grown back too.

But Mummy did some thinking about why Kevin should have broken the same tooth again, since he only did it in November, and she decided he might be bumping into something like Fred did.  She’s moved his water bottle and dish and cage wear about so there’s something soft when he comes down and turns the corner from his loft.  She thinks he might have caught it on his bottle spout. He’s not entirely happy with the new layout, but he says it’s probably safer, and Mummy’s very wise.

She is, and she’s looking after us all, even Midge, who didn’t like his bed. Midge is a funny boy. I like him, though.

Oscar’s on the hammock

I don’t know if I told you, but when Mummy gave me my nice new bed for Oscar & Midge’s birthday present, she gave Oscar the Hammock.  It was George’s hammock; he was given it by one of his fans.  I wasn’t sure how to use it, so Mummy gave it to Oscar.

At first he ignored it, although he occasionally put his front feet on it to talk to me through the bars.  Then he took to sleeping under it.  Mummy liked that, since apparently that’s what Fred and George did.

Oscar on the hammock

Last week Oscar started sitting on his hammock, and even lying on it.  He did what Dougall often did, though; he dropped his cucumber down the side and couldn’t find it until Mummy showed him where it had gone.  Dylan never dropped it down the side, so I’m told.

So now the hammock is occupied again, and I have my nice bed which Mummy puts a comfortable layer of hay on as she knows I like it that way.

And I’d say all’s well with the world, except Midge and Mummy both have slight tummy upsets.  Midge is on Cisapride.  I don’t know what Mummy’s on.  Maybe it’s been caused by watching the Olympics too late into the night.  It was nearly 4 am on Saturday, or rather Sunday morning. She said it was all the fault of Jess Ennis-Hill.  Mummy says funny things, sometimes.
