Hello, Victor here. I’m going to tell you about last week, even though Locksley gave you an update on Ludo.
First, it was a lovely week for weather. Most days it was warm and sunny, and we went out on the grass. Mummy didn’t put the shade out much, because it was nice to feel the sun on our backs if we wanted to. Locksley hid under his tent as usual, but he eats the grass under it, and Mummy puts it in a nice grassy place each time. I had a long run with the arched tunnel to run along, which was great fun. Ludo was next to me and Pippin, and he had the big blue tunnel for more shade, but he didn’t use it much. Pippin was in the covered run, which Mummy left open quite often. I think she’s preparing him for an open run next year.
Just being out on the grass makes me feel so much better. Mummy had booked me for an appointment with the old vets because I was very grumpy, but that never happened because of her hospital visit. Even though I wasn’t grumpy any more, she still took me for a check-up with Dr Rebekah.
So, Ludo went on Monday, and got us some more Metacam, which came in the post on Thursday, and we started it yesterday! His weight seems to have settled down now, and he’s been eating more this week. I wonder whether he was relaxed again now we’re seeing Dr Rebekah. This is Ludo in his box at Reception, with Tia, whose been ever so helpful (Mummy says).
Then Friday, Locksley and I went together but in different boxes. I’d love to share a box with Locksley, but he’d prefer not. Mummy understands these things. I saw Dr Rebekah first, and she checked me all over, and said I was fine, including my teeth. She pointed out some things that Mummy should watch for with my funny lump behind my ear. So Mummy knows more about things that are normal for me, and things that need to be checked.
Then she checked Locksley over, and he had his photo taken. I didn’t have my photo taken but I didn’t need one. His teeth were also fine, despite it being ages since his last trim. Maybe they’re now level and not wearing unevenly. Then she checked his spine to find out what made him cough. She’d already listened to his breathing and heart. When she pressed between his shoulder blades he went ‘ouch’, and Dr Rebekah went ‘ah!’. She diagnosed trache-itis or inflammation of the windpipe. It’s sore, so he coughs occasionally and he showed her how he did it. He’s on antibiotics to make it better. Mummy’s pleased we found out what it is. And he’s probably been standing with more weight on his front feet, and they’ve got hard skin on them. Actually, I think this hard skin was where the whole conversation started. Dr Rebekah is a whizz at picking up tiny signs and getting to the root of a problem.
Anyway, Locksley says his antibiotics are very tasty, and taste of something he likes. Mummy says it smells of banana. I don’t like banana much, but Locksley does so that’s okay.
So then we came home, which was a nice steady drive, and on Saturday we went out on the grass for an hour, and yesterday it rained. We might have had our last grass of summer, but we’ll wait and hope.
Hope you had a good week, and Auntie Noelle is feeling better.
love
Victor x

Hi Willow, We got ourselves on Paxlovid, but only for a few days as it made us nauseous. But it did abate the worst symptoms.

I hope you stay well I can’t get paxlovid as I have to get an appointment with a Dr to get a prescription and getting an appointment can take weeks! By which time it would too late to work. Stay well 💜💜
