Hello. My name is Ludo, and I’m your host for our letter C today. I am a very handsome black and white guinea pig, and I live with our Mummy, and with Biggles and Locksley, in our house in Hampshire.
Our most favourite thing is cuddles with Mummy every morning. Sometimes in the evening too. We go through to the front room and sit on the red towel, and Mummy strokes us and generally cuddles us, and plies us with cucumber. I understand cuddles. I like them, and they make me squeak with pleasure. I think it’s good to give feedback to anyone who cuddles you. Mummy is particularly good at the two handed stroke, which I adore.
… and cucumber
I believe Locksley is more interested in the cucumber that is part of the ritual. Once he’s finished his cucumber allocation he has a good stretch and yawn, which is the signal to Mummy that he’s done. Then she puts him down on the floor and he comes back to our room to play. Locksley used to live with me, so I understand his habits.
Frankly, I don’t understand the obsession with cucumber. Biggles even rushes over to the side of his run at cucumber time in the evening, even climbing up the bars in his eagerness to get his share. Locksley has got confused about this (and many other things). He runs away from Mummy then comes back to get his cucumber, which he examines carefully before taking.
I also examine the cucumber carefully before taking it. You can’t be too careful. Mummy and I have reached a sort of understanding that I will not come over to get it. And she will not give it to me wherever I happen to be in the run. We meet halfway… she holds it somewhere near the entrance to where I’m sitting, and I move forward and take it very politely from her.
It works for us, and that’s all that matters.
I think she thinks that one day I’ll let her cuddle me in the run, like she does all the others. I don’t know why she thinks this. I’ll let you know if it happens.
Tomorrow. The letter D. I have no idea for a favourite thing starting with D.
It’ll be a surprise.
Do you like cucumber? And cuddles – with or without cucumber?
