Z is for Zoe – Guest Post #A2ZChallenge24

This is our last A2Z post this year, apart from our Reflections post on Monday. I couldn’t think of anything for Z, and so Mummy asked Auntie Zoe if she could write a Guest Post. And she said yes, but it turns out that Squeak, who is Pippin’s Dad, wrote it.

Auntie Zoe’s house, by Squeak

Hi there readers!! It’s Squeak here, Pippin’s dad.  I’ve been asked to talk to you about Pippin’s early life and tell you about his family and how we roll.

Me, Squeak, in the sunshine

The whole family on the sofa (January 2022) me at the front, Pippin middle back.

Our family lives in Norfolk and we have different houses depending on the season. In the autumn and winter, we’re in the house with the humans and another furry animal going by the name of Jewels and another strange one (with a shell) called Tarkan.  In late spring we move into larger accommodation in the summerhouse, and then in the summer our house is moved out into the garden (where we get a much nicer view).

The odd animals – Jewels and Tarkan

Pippin had a different name when he lived with us. His name was Popcorn, because the first thing Mummy saw him do was popcorn! Our mummy Hannah is very kind to us and feeds us lots and lots of yummy food. Whilst we are indoors mummy gets us out on the kitchen floor and makes us a super cool run. Mummy is so clever; she puts the house one end (where we hide) and the food (which we eat) the other end!! This is so we get lots of exercise instead of sitting in the house eating – we like eating, but we do get a bit larger when we are indoors, which apparently is bad! And Shhhhhh!!! Skittle never lost her baby weight, but we don’t talk about that, it really wasn’t her fault.

Skittle with Mummy Hannah

We are all going to be three on our next birthday, because we (Skittle and I) were born in August 2021 and we were collected by Mummy Zoe on 16 October 2021.  Then on 4 November 2021, Sandy and Nancy put in a surprise appearance and I was declared a boy, which resulted in a vet trip and a little operation for me so that I could stay! This year Sandy and Nancy will have their birthday on a Monday, because it’s a leap year.  I’m not entirely sure exactly when mine and Skittle’s birthdays are, and given the man who sold us said I was a girl, we won’t rely on anything he says.

My trip to the vet was too late to prevent my poor wife ending up pregnant again.  Things were difficult enough the first time around, but at least then the babies turned out to be girls.  That brings us to Popcorn, oh no, I mean Pippin, who was born on Tuesday 11th January 2022, and my goodness was that boy big – twice the size his sisters were at birth.  He was noisy and rumbly right from the start and there was no way we could make a second male work in this family.

Auntie Sophie was contacted and at just two and a half weeks old poor Pippin had to leave us to go and stay with her.  There were many tears and we all felt dreadful, but he landed on his feet and I am very pleased to be able to keep up with my boy’s antics via Locksley and Ludo’s blog.  Naughty boy for fighting with Victor, but that’s the way it goes sometimes.  Boys will be boys.  I’m very placid and I just get pushed around by the girls in this family.

So, a bit about the rest of Pippin’s family:

Skittle is the boss for sure and can be a bit moody, but then she did have three children before she was six months old!  She sometimes likes a cuddle.

Sandy is a dare devil and is probably one of the only guinea-pigs who wishes she could fly and will actually give that a go!  If there is an open door, she’s through it!

Nancy is timid but actually quite cuddly.  She’s is the food thief in the family and she’s very stealthy about it!

I just go with the flow and I also quite like a cuddle.

We love being outside when the weather goes in our favour and we have a nice grass run to utilise.

The humans in the house consist of our mummy, Hannah, her mummy, Zoe, and someone else who answers to the title ‘Dad’!  Dad, also known as Dave, says we are pampered and spoilt, however he also talks to us and gives us nice snacks, so I think he likes us.

Well, so long readers!  Thanks Locksley, for inviting me to blog, that was fun, I could do it again.  Enjoy the summer grass with your friends!

Loads of popcorns,

Squeak and Co!

So there we are, that’s our A To Z challenge done. I hope you enjoyed it. Thank you for visiting, and I hope I’ve managed to get back to you during the month.

Come back on Monday for a very exciting announcement in our Reflections post. Come back every Monday to see what we’re up to. We’d love to see you again.

love

Locksley (and Ludo, Victor and Pippin) xxxx

  3. What a storyteller you are, Squeak! We had the opposite problem with two piggies, the little brother was a little sister. Not actual siblings. The babies were also all girls, so Buster took a little vet trip himself.

Congratulations all on completing the A to Z! It’s always a pleasure to read your posts!

  4. That was very interesting. I always wondered how it feels for you to interact with other species. Like do the Guinea Pigs and Cat ever actually play or do they cuddle with the Turtle? I hope Squeak can come back and answer sometime.
I enjoyed the challenge from your viewpoint.

Hi special Guinea Pigs all – what a large family with lots of names to remember – I can remember Zoe (except she nearly got spelt with a Greek X?!) that’s easy and is definitely the end of the A – Z – congratulations to one and all – just in time for some summer weather eventually – cheers Hilary
