Hello, Locksley here again.
I thought it would be Ludo this week, but no, it’s still January, so he’ll be here next week.
Mummy found a poem on the internet for me:
Thirty days have September,
April, June and September.
All the rest have thirty-one
Excepting February, which has twenty-eight except for years like this one when there’s one more,
And January, which has six thousand seven hundred and fifty-four.
I hope you like that. Mummy’s still laughing at it. But it does seem like we’ve been in January forever. And we’ve had really cold weather, and really wet weather, and really blowy weather, and some nice mild days this week.
Mummy’s been a bit upset about something to do with her car. It keeps deciding not to start. She called the rescue man in, and on Saturday she had to leave us for a while so she could take it to the garage and leave it there, and the rescue man brought her back a while later. And then in the evening, a lady came and Mummy signed some forms and now there’s another car sitting on the drive. Mummy took it out for her walk yesterday, and she says it’ll probably go back on Tuesday, if her car is ready. She just has to remember to run her car for a whole hour every week, just sitting on the drive.
Apparently she doesnt use it enough. We havent been going to the vet enough for it to charge itself up. And although Mummy really only uses it for fairs, and taking us to the vet, and to go for walks and orienteering and bird surveys, she says she could get away without a car if it wasn’t that she might need to rush us to the vet in an emergency. Generally she could hire a car for the weekend like the one she’s got at the moment, or get a taxi. But if one of us needed to see Dr Rebekah straight away, she’d be stuck. But then the nice man in the dealers told her about a new car due next year which might solve the other problems she has with this one since her hands got weak. So she’s going to wait.
I think that’s really the only thing that happened this week. More hay came. And our arthuritis biscuits came too. We’re eating timothy hay at the moment, because we ran short of the meadow hay. I think I prefer meadow hay. And we had the door of our room open most of yesterday because it was quite warm outside. Not warm enough to go out, but fresh, and nice indoors with our heating on.
I hope you had a good week, with not too much excitement,
love

Hi Locksley, I think our weather is much the same. Wonderfully warm for January so we could air out the house! We are with your Mum, January drags on and on. I’ve been inside for a week with a chest cold. My husband says it takes ten days to get rid of the cold, with or without antibiotics! This has been more than ten days but I am much better. I look forward to hearing about your Mum’s new car. I’m sure it must have some automatic steering that will make it easier on her hands. Stay well, all of you!

January is almost over, Locksley! Hang in there. February will go quickly, and then we’ll be heading into spring.
I don’t have a car. I can get to places, including the vet, on foot or by bus or subway (Mummy calls it the “tube”). Someday I might get one if we move away from the city of Hatton.
Love you, boys! XOXO

I used to have a Tortoise that loved Timothy Hay!
As to the car situation, ask your Mom if they have Uber near you. I think they have started taking animal passengers too.
