W is for Water #A2ZChallenge22

Hello, Ludo here. We’ve nearly finished the A to Z Challenge, so I hope you’re enjoying it. If it’s your first visit, we’re guinea pigs. And we usually blog every Monday.

Water

I am a connoisseur of water. I have tasted water in three different homes, and I think this is the best.

The first two were nice enough, but this tastes a lot different. It has different balance of minerals in it, and not as much calcium as Norfolk and Suffolk. Calcium makes the water ‘hard’. We have hard water here too, but not as hard as Norfolk.

The trouble with hard water is that it can be difficult to get rid of all the excess calcium in our bodies, so we have a tendency to make bladder stones out of it. I haven’t got bladder stones. Biggles might have. But it comes out in my wee and leaves little white spots on my fleece. They more or less wash off.

Water is very good for us, though. It helps everything in our bodies work. We must drink water, or get it through our food. It’s the same for humans. Mummy sometimes has a glass of water by her when she’s working. I just go to my water bottle and have a sip or several.

Mummy changes our water most days, and tops the bottles up whenever they need it. Especially just before bed.

Do you like water? What’s it like where you live?

Come back tomorrow for an amazing picture of bladder stones in the making.

  1. I drink water all day long. We also have problem water so we got one of those countertop water purifiers that takes a lot of minerals and junk out of tap water. Do you have one?

  2. I think the water in the UK is better from the tap than nearly everywhere else. Mineral water is bad for guinea pigs – too much calcium and so on in it.

I don’t drink much water. But sometimes I like to hang out in my water bowl and drink some while I absorb more through my skin. Mummy says tortoises don’t need as much water as some animals, and she’s right. But even we need some water.

I enjoy drinking water. My furbabies enjoy swimming, too! Luckily we have our own water source as the water from the municipality has been irregular and recently been contaminated with sewage from what I hear from my neighbours. Grr.

Yeah, that Norfolk water was something else. I never did get used to it when I visited.

New York is known for the high quality of its tap water, and I have to say, it’s pretty good. It’s much “softer” than Norfolk’s and that of other places I’ve visited in the U.S. We still put it through a filter for drinking—for humans, pigs, and Satanic Conures.
