Hello! I’m Kevin.  I’m a ginger and white guinea pig and I look after both George’s Guinea Pig World and our Facebook page.  Percy and I have been sharing the workload for our A to Z Challenge this year, and I’ll be doing this last week.

X is for eXtras

Our normal food is hay and pellets, with fresh veggies for breakfast, and grass if we’re lucky.  Sometimes we get extra treats.  That includes special herb mixes, or things to gnaw on, or special hay with herbs or dandelion.  We used to get yummy herb & grass rolls covered in paper but the makers stopped making them.  That was a shame because they were the best extras ever.  Mummy says she has to read the ingredients carefully, because even though the label says ‘for rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas’, some of the sticks have egg and honey in them, which we don’t want.  She gets the ones where it doesn’t say those things are in it.  She says she’d be very cross if they were.

I asked Mummy if birthday cakes count as xtras and she said no, they are birthday cakes. Of course, our favourite xtra is a pile of freshly picked grass.

Mostly we get xtras as a Christmas present, but sometimes we just get them because Mummy loves us.  I love Mummy too.
