Hello, Locksley here. We’ve not been on the grass this week, because it had either just rained, or was going to rain, or it was raining. Hard. Mummy changed our beds Tuesday, and got our under pads washed and into the summerhouse to dry, but the fleeces were still hanging in the rain on Friday.
I hope Mummy washed and dried them overnight, or we won’t get clean beds today. Although she did some spares a few weeks ago.
It might have helped if Mummy hadn’t gone out on Thursday afternoon. It was almost raining then, and by evening it was pouring, and again on Friday. We wondered what Mummy was doing, going out so late on a wet afternoon. Here are some clues;
- she got up at least six times on Wednesday night/Thursday morning
- when she was doing Thursday cucumber and cuddles she said her shoulders ached, and she must have strained something
- when she finished doing Pippin, he told us her hands were really blue and very cold
- She finished cleaning us out and gave us our veggies, then she went back to bed
- some time later we could hear her talking to someone in her bedroom. I think was on the phone. We could only hear her voice, anyway.
- she put one of her caps on and went outside, she put her yellow jacket on too.
- after a few minutes she came in, definitely talking to someone on the phone, and pulled out the big hay box. Then she gave us each a huge pile of hay, saying something like ‘they might keep me in.’
- Then the doorbell rang and someone checked she’d got her keys, and she shut the door and left us on our own.
Well, we’re used to that, really, but the big pile of hay is unusual.

So we did our own thing, just as normal. And this our new hay, which is a big improvement on the last two boxes. And we could hear it raining on the roof, and it was dark, and there were no lights on except the usual one for the heating number. Then it was dawn and I wouldn’t call it daylight because it was raining again. And the day went on…
Just before it got dark, Mummy came back in the house, still wearing her cap and yellow jacket over her sleeping clothes. I wonder what the people outside thought of Mummy walking around in her dressing gown and pyjamas?

Anyway, Mummy thanked the people who brought her back, and sat down for a few minutes before she decided to put the heating on low, which is nice after all this damp. Then she gave us our evening meds and some cucumber, and checked how much hay we had left. Pippin needed some more. I don’t know how he eats it all.
Then next morning things were sort of normal, save for one lady came across the road to apologise for not taking her to hospital, but just as she realised she could, the ambulance had arrived.
So to answer all your questions if you haven’t worked it out: Mummy had some pains on the right hand side of her chest, she used the health system and spoke to a triage nurse, who decided she’d better go to hospital for an emergency check-up. She couldn’t drive herself, so she tried the neighbours but nobody was in because school was coming out or something, and the nurse called her back to say the ambulance was on its way. No blue lights, though. And she had even more tests than we get at the vets, but they let her come home the next afternoon with a huge bag full of meds. She was taking about twelve pills Friday and Saturday, and after doing us each morning she’s been resting. And taking deliveries. Oh, she’s got a lung infection which gives her stabbing pains and she has to make sure she walks around often and breathes as deep as she can.
If any of that doesn’t make sense, blame me, because she told us about it over cuddles the next morning and I had to make it go together as well as I could.
And Victor and I are going to see Dr Charlotte today. Mummy is hoping to find out where Dr Rebekah’s gone, because if it’s closer, she’ll be very happy.
love

Thanks for the update, little one. Your Mum’s health crisis sounds serious and I hope she gets sorted and better soon. I’m worried.

Locksley here. She’s safely back at home Auntie, and coughs a bit in the mornings. She’s not behaving normally for her yet, though. We didn’t go to the vet Monday, and she didnt go to her other appointment. We’ll see if she goes for her foot trimming today.
