Hello, Locksley here again. We sort of thought Victor might take a regular spot mid-month, but he said I should do the news items while he thought of something for next week.

The Big News…

Marmalade has become a Daddy! You remember Marmalade… he did the brilliant guest appearance for S for Showing. Here he is to remind you.

He said in his post that he lived with his wives, Anne, Hetty and Lucy. I asked Mummy what a wive was and she said it’s someone you live with when you love them enough to make babies with them.

Frankly, that doesn’t help me much, but Auntie Doris told us that Marmalade is now a Daddy! Anne had three babies, and Lucy had four, but only one survived, and Hetty had two, but sadly Hetty was very poorly and went over the rainbow bridge a few days later. Lucy is taking care of Hetty’s babies.

Blackbird’s legacy

Mummy also asked Auntie Doris whether he is related to the legendary Blackbird.

Well, you can see why Mummy asked.

There’s a mysterious character called Blackbird who turns up in several of Mummy’s books. He always up to mischief!

Marmalade is not related to him (or the mysterious character).

But Lucy is descended from Blackbird, and so is Anne (and Hetty too). I wonder if any of the babies will grow up to win rosettes and things? Just like their Daddy… and their great (8 times) grandfather!

Garden grass

We’ve been going out on the grass again. It’s nice and warm but the wind is cool, and I don’t really like the sun because it’s so bright. So I can’t get comfortable unless I hide under my tent. Mummy is disappointed with what she calls ‘our lawn-mowing performance.’ I think she means we’re not eating enough grass. Well, I have what I want, and leave the rest for later. And then she brings us in.
