Hello, Ludo here.

I usually have very quiet weeks, just minding my own business and snuggling in my tunnel or under my fiddlesticks.

This week has been very noisy. We had lots of wind and rain battering the house during the day and the night (the wind was worse at night). But we were safe and snug indoors. I hate to think what those poor guinea pigs who live outside, even in hutches and sheds, think of it. They must have been terrified. I used to live in a hutch in a shed, and I can assure you it is much, much better to be in a nice run or cage indoors, especially with Mummy working at her desk nearby.

Then from Friday night onwards Mummy closed our curtains, and the door, and played music to us. We could still tell there were loud noises outside, but it was much better than having to put up with the building work, because there was no vibration through our floor.

I think I remember this banging weekend happening before. It’s something called Fireworks Night and it pays homage to someone who tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament. I think Mummy thinks someone should do it again. But it would have to be the same date or we’d have yet another weekend in the year when people would make loud banging noises and put flashy things in the sky.

Oh, and apparently the special music we were listening to was called Pet Classics, on ClassicFM, for keeping us all soothed and calm during the noisy nights. It was sponsored by a dog food company. Mummy declined to enter the competition to win a year’s supply of dog food for us. I’m glad of that. I don’t think I’d like dog food. I’ve just checked with the others. Locksley agrees with me, Victor is wondering what dog food is, and Pippin says he’ll try anything once.

Sigh. Kids today…
