It’s all about Ludo, again

Hello, Ludo here again. I’m feeling a bit better today. But Mummy said to blog today, because we have to go out very early tomorrow (Monday).

I felt awful last week. I had lots of meds, as Victor told you. They tasted awful. Mummy gave me the most horrible one first, then some funny ones which I didn’t like, but were supposed to help the horrible one. Then I got the Metacam, which is actually very nice, but after the others it was just one more yucky thing in my mouth. And then Mummy took me for some cuddles and some Emeraid.

Now Emeraid is very nice, and fills up your tummy, but after the meds everything tasted bad, so I got a bit fussy about eating that too. Then when I went back in my run, I started feeling a bit weak, and a bit sore, and a bit miserable, so I sat on the soft snuggly Mummy had put in the other corner and just moped. I sometimes tried a bit of lettuce, but I didn’t really fancy anything much. Sometimes my belly hurt more than other times.

Mummy took me back to the vet on Friday. We went out when it was dark, but Mummy said she was glad it wasn’t frosty. It was still cold, but not as cold as the previous two days. We went so early that we got there before the traffic jam in Salisbury started. But Dr Michael was ready for us, and he seemed very nice, except he prodded and poked my belly, and that was very uncomfortable.

Then Mummy left me with him, and a nurse, who shaved all the hair off my belly. You wouldn’t know, really, because the skin is just as black and white as the hair was. They say the hair will grow back, though. Then they put some cold jelly on it, and held me on my back while they rubbed a funny thing over it. This could see my insides on their screen! Dr Michael showed Mummy a picture called a scan later. But then I went sleep for a bit, and when I woke up I was in a little hutch, all white, and it was very snug and I felt safe.

When Mummy came back Dr Michael showed her the scan, and also an X-ray they did while I was asleep. The X-ray showed a big bladder stone, too big to come out of its own accord, so I’m going back, even earlier, on Monday (tomorrow) so Dr Rebekah can see me and take the stone out. She’ll be back from her Thanksgiving holiday by then. We’ll be the first people she sees after her holiday. I’m sure she’ll like it that we’ve come to see her.

Anyway, I should be able to come home later in the day, and we’ll give you an update then.

Oh, and Mummy could stop giving me the nasty meds, and I’m feeling much better already. Mummy’s very pleased with me. See you soon.

Ludo xx

  1. Mummy here. Dr Rebekah reviewed the X-rays and decided not to operate. His arthritis has got much worse, and she felt it better to treat the bladder stone without putting the extra stress of an operation on his joints. He’s got some new meds, and he seemed to quite like them. He’s very perky today.

I just saw Mummy’s update directly above. I’m glad you’re feeling perky, Ludo. I hope that the stone can be effectively treated with meds.

    Love you!
    XOXO
