Hello, Ludo here today.
If you find our posts a little repetitive, I apologise. It’s the way life is, for us, anyway. And we like it this way: nice and predictable, no surprises.
The biggest surprise this weekend was a change of grass. Our runs moved from the middle of the grass area to the part nearest the house. At the same time, the weather eased, so we stopped having very hot days, and instead have bright sunny ones, with nice warmth. So we’ve been going out quite early in the afternoon, like 3 pm or even earlier, when it’s warm, but shady.

You know, I think Mummy actually plans all this. When it was very hot, we didn’t go out till very late in the day, evening almost. Our runs were a long way from the house and the sun cast long shadows over us. The shadows didn’t start till much later than they do now. It’s something to do with the way the Earth goes round the Sun. Don’t ask me what though. We heading towards Fred’s famous ‘equal day and night’ time, but I don’t understand that either. I do know it’s dark by nine o’clock now, and we have the lights on in our room soon after eight. It’s only a month ago we were out in the garden still then.

But the other thing is – we have fresh grass. Every time we move our runs, we go onto grass that hasn’t been used for at least two weeks. Some years it goes dry in patches, but this year it’s fine. A lot of clover, but we don’t mind that. Mummy wants us to eat the other flowers and leaves she’s carefully added to our grass, but we often don’t. She says Roscoe and the others used to love them. Yeah, well Roscoe had a lot of funny ideas. I think we all still miss him though. Well, me and Locksley. Victor and Pippin never knew him, or Neville, or Biggles. They’ve seen the photos, though. They used to be out in the sun more, too. I’m glad we’ve got shade.
I don’t think anything’s happening next week, although Mummy’s got a two-day fair at the weekend, so we might be late posting. We’ll try to get it out sometime on Monday, though.
love

Hi Ludo – at least I know what’s happening further down the coast … for which thank you: I don’t have to worry about the grass growing – but understand your need for fresh pasture. It does look lush though … enjoy – while a quiet time is all we need at times … no problem surprises! Take care and enjoy the early Autumn life … cheers Hilary

Lovely post, Ludo! I like the part about the fresh grass and shade. And yes, autumn is coming so enjoy the warmth now. I do enjoy that season when it’s still warm but not hot and humid.
