Hello, Locksley here.
You remember last week Ludo was talking about midsummer. Well, it seems like it’s over already. We had a very hot day a week or two ago, and a whole eight days in a row when we went out in the garden late in the afternoon.
But this week we’ve hardly been out at all. It’s either been too cool, too wet or too windy. Or all of them together. We did have an hour or so out on Saturday. It rained in the morning, but it was so windy the ground was dry enough for us in the late afternoon. And Mummy let the sun shine on us so we were warm enough.

I went under my tent, as usual. I like to be under my tent. I feel very safe there. You never know when something might swoop down from the sky. Mummy was with us the other day when a kestrel (a small bird of prey) swooped down and caught a small animal at the top of the steps that go down to the bottom of the garden. Mummy was sitting next to us so we were safe, but the kestrel looked at her, trying to decide what she was, probably, because she stayed very still. We all stayed very still, too, even Pippin. And then the kestrel flew off with the small animal in its feet. Mummy thinks it was a young rat, and says the kestrel can come and get those whenever it likes.
Pippin has been a bit of a nuisance this week. I don’t know why he’s such a pain. We try to talk to him when he’s in the garden, but he growls, and rumbles, and tries to boss us about. So eventually we ignore him. Then yesterday morning he climbed out of his cage when Ludo and I had floor time. I wouldn’t mind if he socialised with us, but he just runs up and starts arguing with us. He and Ludo had a scuffle, and Mummy heard and came through from the front room where she was cuddling with Victor. She picked Pippin up in his tent, then we went into ours, and everything quietened down. She found some of his hair on the floor though, where Ludo had been.
So that’s what’s been going on this week. Vic had a trip to the vet, but nothing else happened.
Hope your summer is a bit more fun.
love

Sounds like you did have a bit of excitement despite the weather, Locksley. I wish we had some of that cool weather here. It’s either brutally hot or brutally hot and humid with thunderstorms. I only go out in the very early morning. That’s why I like winter- I rarely stay inside!
