Wet, cold, and sunny

Hello, Locksley here.

It’s been very wet here this week, so we haven’t gone out since last Monday. We only spent a short time out then, and Mummy warned us it would probably be our last chance this year.

Even though it rained at night, Mummy still left our door a little open (it has a catch on it to keep it secure) so that we got good fresh air in. She says apart from being good for us, it helps to get rid of unwanted smells. I think those are the ones the others make.

Then Saturday it was bright and sunny, but quite cold. Mummy went out to her book fair, but wasn’t very well, and had a lot of help at the beginning from other people. She was better after that, but when she came home she went to bed. She said she had felt very dizzy, and someone said it might be low blood pressure. I think she had lots of doctor talking in the week, and has been doing exercises, which she’s not used to yet, so it makes her more tired. And she’s not eating enough. She says she doesn’t fancy food. I persuaded her to order some drink that’s good for people who don’t want to eat. It’s really for diets, but I reckon it’ll help her.

We’ve been eating our new pellets that have dandelion in them. I loved them to start with, but they’ve got a bit boring now. I think she’s going to mix it up a bit more this week. We still like our dandelion leaves from the garden, and we had the last of the bean leaves yesterday. They were past their best, for sure.

It was cold again yesterday, although with bright sunshine. The wind is in the north, so that’s cold. Mummy still has the ventilator windows in the other rooms open a little, but the heating has been on, so it feels nice indoors. ‘Cold’ for us is 7 degrees C (outside), which I think comes to 45 degrees F. It warmed up in the day, but went back down again by late afternoon. Mummy hasn’t put the runs away yet, though. She says she needs some help to reorganise the summerhouse. And a dry day. Yesterday would have been perfect, but everyone she knew was busy with family things.

The hedgehogs are still coming for their nighttime food, though. I think they might go and hibernate for winter soon. It’s not going to be any warmer next week, and there’s more rain due on Wednesday. Sigh. It’s definitely autumn.

Hope life is good with you.

Love

  1. Hi Locksley! I am worried about your Mum’s difficulties at the book fair. Tell her she needs to drink a lot of water, which will help keep her blood pressure up and drink tea. I’ve had bouts like that and it’s almost always my blood pressure. I’m sorry to hear you can’t get outside but you are much chillier there than we are here. Our days continue to be nicely warm although cold at night. Be well all you guys!
