A nice week, with added grass

Hi! Pippin the Valorius here. I’ve been looking up long words, ready for the A to Z Challenge next month. Yes, it’s March now, and April is next month. And in May we’re going on holiday! Mummy said we’re going on a cruise, but only for forty minutes each way. So if we don’t like it, it won’t last long.

I told you about the long list of words Mummy gave me. It’s even longer now! But she helped me set up advance post headings for them all, so we have A for Arthritis and Antibiotics. She said I can get started on writing the contents any time I like. She said she’d help, because I don’t know anything about antibiotics, although I think Victor had to have them for a bit. I’m going to learn a lot about caring for guinea pigs, I think. Maybe I’ll give my opinions on how people should care for us, too. Mummy says that’s just fine, it’s what George would have done. Ooh, I’m following in George’s footsteps.

It’s been a nice week, it got quite warm midweek, and we had two days of sun. Then on Saturday it looked nice, then it clouded over again. Mummy got her last bird survey done on one of the sunny days, then asked us if we’d like to try the grass in the garden for a few minutes. She had been cutting some of it and bringing it in for us since the weekend, just a few mouthfuls, really, but it was good. But going out in the garden… was it warm enough?

She said it was warm enough for her to sit out with us, and the grass had dried up and wasn’t cold, like it had been the day before. So I went out to see what I thought of it, and then I came in again, and Reggie and Ronnie went out.

It was strange being outside again. I’d forgotten how high the sky is. It goes on forever. Ludo used to say he was scared the sky would fall on him. I used to think he was stupid, but I know what he means now. Am I getting old? Anyway, Mummy only let me run around for a few minutes, because she could see I wasn’t that comfortable being outside. She said Ronnie was delighted to go outside and he enjoyed it. Reggie stayed in his tunnel a lot of the time, but he still ate some grass.

And then at the weekend it was cooler and not so sunny, so we didn’t go out. But Mummy did and she brought us some yummy leaves from the herb bed she started tidying up. She grows nice herbs in it, like fennel, and thyme, and parsley, and mint. But she gave us some Herb Robert, which is a wildflower that grows everywhere, so it’s also called a weed. Some piggies like it, others are suspicious. I love it. Guess who were suspicious. I expect they’ll get used to it. Mummy also brought us in some celeriac leaves that had started sprouting again. Yummy.

Have a nice week, and I hope the weather is nice where you are.

love

Pippin xxx
