It’s very wet again

Hi! Sir Pippin of Nearly Springtime here. The sun came out yesterday. I think it was the first time for two weeks, and it was late in the day. It did occasionally stop raining in the week. Mummy would go out to do things like empty our bin into the compost bay, and then she brought us some grass she’d cut with scissors. There wasnt much of it, but we all loved it. Saturday’s was still very wet, but that helps us get enough to drink, when our veggies are wet.

Did I tell you about my itchy spot? Mummy looked at whether it was irritating me a few times. One day she decided it wasnt over my hip, so I wasn’t telling her I had arthritis. I thought I’d better let her look at it properly, so I moved around and lay so it was right in front of her, and she got the thing out that makes her eyes look big, and she said “Pippin, you’ve got mites.” Correct, Mummy. So I got some Spot-on for them. And at the end of the week, Ronnie and Reggie got Spot-on too, because Reggie had a sensitive scabby place, and Ronnie probably did too. I’m feeling better already, and not itching that spot any more.

Ronnie seems to have changed his mind about Mummy. I think he likes her, or trusts her properly, which is great. Reggie has loved her for ages. Ronnie does things like stand up on his hind legs for his biscuit treat in the evening. I think that’s a bit undignified. I just climb up the side of my cage for it. He’s started coming out of his hideys to say hello to her. He’s also stopped weeing on our red towel during cuddle time. Mummy’s really pleased. She says these are all signs that he really feels at home with her now. It seems to have taken a long time, but she says seven months isn’t so long really. She said it took Ludo four years to come over and take a treat from her hand. But he had Problems, and she understood. I don’t remember a time when I didn’t come over to Mummy for treats. But then, I was still a baby when I came here. Victor loved Mummy as soon as she understood his hips hurt, which was about a month after we came here.

The funny thing is, now Ronnie’s being friendlier, Reggie has relaxed too. He always loved Mummy, but it was like he couldn’t show it when Ronnie was around. Anyway, we are all happy at present, especially if the mites have really gone now.

And… exciting news! We’re going on holiday in May, and we have to go on a boat! Tell you more about it next time.

love

Pippin xxx
