Ludo is on lots of meds

Hello, Victor here. Have you had a very cold and frosty week, or a wet and very windy one? We’ve had both! From Tuesday it was very cold and frosty, right up till Friday, then just after Ludo and Mummy came back from the vets, the cloud and rain came in. The wind has been so windy it’s blown all the ferns over outside our door. Fortunately Mummy trimmed the butterfly bush down the week before, so it’s just looking the same.

Yes, Ludo went to the vets. Mummy was worried about him because he’s been off colour, but that could have been missing Locksley. But then she found he’d been peeing with blood in his wee. A little patch on Wednesday and then all over the place on Thursday. So she booked him in to the vets, but he had to see Claire, who is a locum vet. I don’t know what sort of animals they are, but apparently she also knows lots about guinea pigs. Dr Rebekah went on holiday in America, and Mummy says she’s probably gone home for Thanksgiving, which is on Thursday. Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends.

Anyway, Dr Claire suspects bladder stones, so as well as his metacam for his arthritis, Ludo also has Baytril which is an antibiotic. And because it tastes horrid, he gets some orange juice with it, and mummy mixes that with a Pro-biotic for gut health while the antibiotic gets rid of the nasties.

And after all that, he gets some yummy Emeraid, as much as he likes. And all of that, which he gets every morning, he also gets every night!

I only get Metacam twice a day for my arthritis and my lump, and Pippin doesn’t get anything.

Ludo may go and have a scan on Friday, if the antibiotics haven’t worked. And then go to see Dr Rebekah when she’s back.

And we ran out of Metacam this week because of a mix-up over the prescription last weekend, but it arrived in time for me to get my morning dose at lunchtime.

So that was this week. How was yours?

love

Victor.

Hi Victor … I do hope the meds work … poor all of you – so worrying … yes horrible weather, but not too bad up here … but the sea is very nearby -which you don’t want to go near! Take care – cheers Hilary

  2. Oh Dear, I do hope the meds help.
On a lighter note, I wanted to share with you all that I got to hold some Guinea Pigs for the first time, ever! My friend saved them from a bad situation and named them Frankie and Poncho.

  3. Dear Victor, it sounds like you are all ailing, but you seem to be doing well. A bladder infection is no fun and I hope Ludo gets to feeling better soon. You would be happy here – it is cold but not frosty at night and our patio warms up nicely with the sun, so you could be out there soaking it up. Get well soon, all of you!

It’s been chilly here, but that’s normal for November.

New York, the state where we live, was experiencing a drought. We’ve had some rain recently, so it’s better now.

Thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes, Victor. To be honest, after the return of Trump, I don’t feel like celebrating. Ask Mummy about him. No, on second thought, don’t. He’s just … ick.

I hope the antibiotics work for Ludo.

I got my vaccinations for flu and COVID, two nasty illnesses that humans get. The shots left me feeling a little sick, but I’m getting better.

Julius and Lynley send regards, and Tweek says, “ROAR.”

    Stay well and safe, boys!

    XOXO

  5. Mummy here. Ludo has gone to the vets this morning, to see the lovely Dr Michael, and have a scan and xray of his bladder. And nether regions. Then Dr Rebekah will see him next week with all the evidence. I hope she gets back from Thanksgiving okay.

    Fingers crossed.
